WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A CHIN AUGMENTATION PROCEDURE

During chin augmentation surgery, a small incision is made either beneath the chin or inside the mouth. A pocket for implant placement is created in front of the chin bone and underneath the muscles. The implant is then precisely placed and secured in front of the bone and sutures are used to close the incision.
THE RECOVERY PROCESS OF CHIN AUGMENTATION SURGERY
Following your chin augmentation procedure, you will experience some swelling and soreness. The majority of swelling and bruising will typically resolve within a week. You may also feel some numbness in the chin following surgery. This usually diminishes within several months, at which point your chin implant should be just about completely healed.
After chin augmentation, patients see a dramatic improvement in their profile, with the implant creating a cleaner, sharper angle under the chin while making the neck appear less slack. A chin implant also has the effect of making the nose appear smaller. Many times, patients will have chin augmentation performed in conjunction with rhinoplasty (nose job) and neck lift surgery to maximize results and create optimal facial symmetry.
