WHAT IS XEOMIN?

Many people are unfamiliar with Xeomin and the cosmetic benefits that it can provide. Xeomin (IncobotulinumtoxinA) is the latest wrinkle treatment that has been FDA approved for the treatment of moderate to severe frown lines. Like Botox, Xeomin is derived from the bacteria that causes botulism. Botulinum toxin blocks nerve activity in the muscles, causing a temporary reduction in muscle activity. The result is a smoothing out of creases and wrinkles in the overlying skin.

Xeomin belongs to the category that also includes Dysport and Botox. Now that Xeomin has received the approval of the FDA, an Austin Xeomin specialist can use this advanced filler to treat facial lines that include:

  • Crow’s feet
  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Frown lines

HOW IS XEOMIN DIFFERENT FROM BOTOX?

Unlike Botox, Xeomin does not need to be refrigerated, which makes distributing it simpler than distributing Botox. It also contains no additives, which means there is less risk of developing antibodies against the drug and other neurotoxins. The body naturally develops antibodies when a foreign substance is introduced.

Xeomin was introduced on the market by the manufacturer at a slightly lower price than Botox and Dysport. It also has a slightly faster effect compared to Botox or Dysport.

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH XEOMIN INJECTIONS

A Xeomin treatment session can take around ten to twenty minutes. An anesthetic is not necessary for the injection, however the specialist might use a cold pack or numbing cream to reduce any discomfort that the patient may feel during the procedure.

After a Xeomin injection treatment, you will typically begin to see the effects within a week. The results of your Austin Xeomin treatment may continue to improve for up to a month. The results can last anywhere from three to six months, which is comparable to Botox. Side effects are also minimal and can include swelling or bruising at the injection site. It is recommended not to use Xeomin with other botulinum products.
